There's a difference between mere exams and O.W.Ls, Sirius, even you can't deny that's true!

There's a difference, yeah, but that doesn't give them some-- I dunno, some mystical power! They're still an exam. And they'll still be passed and conquered and celebrated like an exam. And oh, hang on, Remus Lupin is still clever and usually passes his exams--that is, when he remembers not to pass out months before the exams even happen!

Well, yeah, because that's a joke that takes thought. Whereas the Sirius joke is immediate and amusing just from saying it, it doesn't require thought on any other level.
