I was ill but I am recovering. As is Alayne, and Robb.
Before you fell ill, did you see any of the creatures that were discovered?

None. Heard descriptions of them, but I never saw one face to face. Have you?

[A long, long pause.]

I could not go. I was ill. And there was no place for me.

Do you think that they could be controlled?

[He pauses for a few seconds.]

I think it would be a poor idea to try, considering you don't have much experience in control yet.

There is a doctor looking for samples of them. She would be better helped by one that was yet alive.

How certain are you that you could manage to keep it in check?

[Another pause, and then he admits:]

I have already tried it. I could practice at it.

How did it go? Are you all right? Was anyone hurt?

They are angry. I found one that was far from everything so no one was hurt. And I am all right.

I think there is something different about them.

Different how?

They aren't only animals. I think they were made of some magic.

Humans transformed into animals? Or do you mean animals and magic together?

I don't know. But they feel wrong.

Have you told anyone else?

I asked the doctor if I could be of help. The Lady Elizabeth Ross. I did not tell her that I had tried to borrow their skin but she might know.

Not Robb? And perhaps you should tell her. Someone who wants to study such things-- but I'd like to be with you when you try. I can heal easily, so if you lose control, I can hold you back until you regain it.

Robb will say no as well. Just as they all have.

I don't know that I want to be studied. But she is interested. She has said anyone could be there but I will have to think.

Study the creature, not you yourself. Would you be all right with that?

[A pause.]

I think she means me. She is interested in warging. But she seems kind.

If you don't want to be studied, no one will force you to. I promise you that. You will not be forced to do anything you don't want to.

If she is interested I could show her. If it was safe. If she was kind about it and could keep it secret.

Would you like me to come with you?
