1. i have to go off & do something & i promised merlin i would watch guinevere to make sure she was all right & i wont be able to do that precisely so you have to do it. also no questions asked. i probably should have said that one first right oh well ABIDE BY IT.

[Which, even as he writes it, feels wrong. Don't tell James. It's not some secret mission, right? But James can't go anywhere in the ship, not yet. Jesus, maybe not ever. Not the way this place goes. He'll relax that control later, of course he will, he can't actually control James and he doesn't want to. But he still feels the need to protect him, at least initially.
